About me

Wilhelmina Helena: music/photography/make-up

Helena Vegter is a multidisciplinary artist, graduated from the Minerva Academy for Popular Culture. She works as a photographer, singer, and make-up artist, with a love for fashion and glamour reflected in all her work.

As an artist, she performs original music under the name ‘Miss Helena’, bringing ultra-glamorous, vintage-inspired looks to every stage. She released her debut EP ‘Miss MagiX’ (2023) Spotify, followed by ‘Bluebirds’ (April 2025) Spotify. In honor of the 80th anniversary of liberation, Bluebirds is a tribute to Vera Lynn, featuring reimagined classics like We’ll Meet Again and The White Cliffs of Dover, alongside original tracks, carrying her message of hope and resilience to a new generation.

She is currently preparing her show ‘Glitter, Glamour, Groningen’ (premiering November 7th, 2025 at the A-Theater) Tickets, featuring glamorous guest artists such as burlesque star Chrissy Kiss, while also writing material for her debut album, set for release in 2027.

In 2013, Helena won 1st prize at Kunstbende with her brother, Rik Vegter. She has performed original songs and covers at De Melkweg, Noorderzon Theaterfestival, Amsterdam Burlesque Festival, Jamey Fitz, and A-Theater.

As a photographer, her work centers on fashion, glamour, and art. She has produced series such as Clothing from Different Cultures (2017) and My Freedom, Islam (2019), exhibited at the Eusebius Church in Arnhem and Q-Factory in Amsterdam. In 2022, she created a historical fashion series for the Veenkoloniaal Museum Veendam’s exhibition From Corset to Sequins. She has photographed personalities including Maya Wildevuur, Lady Galore, Jessie Maya, Eveline Stallaart, Fay Loren, and Dutch Olympic speed skating champion Marianne Timmer, and worked with brands like Paris Hilton Fragrances and Christine Le Duc.

She works as a regular make-up artist at RTV Noord and RTV Drenthe, among other jobs for Zummerbühne and Studio Flink.

Meanwhile, Helena is developing her photography series ‘(HUMAN) NATURE’, exploring the relationship between humans and nature and reflecting on the idea that when we harm the natural world, we ultimately harm ourselves. The series is still in progress as she finalizes it and plans its exhibition and publication.
